Letter of Introduction to Students

Welcome to 7th Grade English!

I know you guys want to get the most out of the end of your summer, so I promise to make this quick. My name is Ms. Gorman, and I will be teaching your English class this year. I cannot wait to meet you all, but before we start the school year, I have a couple notes for you guys.

First, I made a checklist of the different materials you should plan on bringing to class on Monday!

• No. 2 pencils (3-5)

• Blue or black ink pens (3-5)

• Composition Notebook (1)

• Chromebook (1-provided by the school)

• Binder (1)

• Dividers (5)

• Planner (1)

• Summer Reading book: Students, you should have at least chosen their book before class. If you would like less homework, you should start reading it.

My last note is that we will be starting the year working on writing our own narratives after examining the books you chose for summer reading. Keep that in mind while reading your book and look out for techniques the authors use, how the author organizes the book, and which descriptive details the author chooses to include. We will talk about this more in class.

I cannot wait to meet you all! We are going to have an exciting year. :)
